Job Summary:
The Domestic Violence Counselor is primarily responsible for domestic violence counseling and case management services to clients, and providing evaluation and reporting services for clients.

- Allowable Substitution: Equivalent combination of education and experience will be evaluated by the Administrator for comparability.
- Licenses/Special Requirements:
- Registered as an Agency Affiliated Counselor in Washington State or certified as a Mental Health Professional.
- Must be free of criminal convictions involving moral turpitude.
- Participate in a minimum of 30 hours training from:
- An established DV victim program.
- An established DV perpetrator treatment services program or an out of state DV perpetrator program complying with Washington State standards.
- Must have completed a minimum of 250 hours of a combination of supervised direct treatment contact with perpetrators and DV victim advocacy services, at least 125 of these hours in treatment contact with perpetrators.
- Valid Washington State driver’s license.

- Schedules appointments, maintains schedules, and confirms upcoming appointments.
- Responds to requests for information regarding services or clients, following program procedure to respond in a timely manner and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Gives out and explains testing paperwork to clients for evaluations and assists clients as necessary in completing the paperwork. Collects evaluation paperwork from clients and scores testing paperwork as required.
- Types basic correspondence and other documents for staff; copies documents and prepares for mailing, faxing and/or client pickup as necessary. Assists with mailing patient Business Office account statements. Assists clients as needed by copying documents and/or obtaining needed information to take to court.
- Creates initial clinical files for clients. Maintains pending client files and provides to counselors as needed for appointments. Receives closed clinical files at patient discharge and prepares the files for archival.
- Receives monthly compliance reports from counselors, makes copies as necessary, sorts and mails all compliance reports in a timely manner.
- Opens incoming mail and distributes mail as appropriate. Ensures that all outgoing mail is prepared properly and is mailed in a timely manner.

Job Summary:
A Counselor Trainee/Student Practice Intern is responsible for direct counseling and case management services to patients, and providing evaluation and reporting services for patients under the direct supervision of a Substance Use Disorder Counselor. The Counselor Trainee(PT)/Student Practice Intern holds a PT credential and maintains active status on the credential.
Major Duties:
- Provides direct counseling and case management services to patients, consisting of individual, group, family, and educational services including assessment, counseling, and aftercare services. Provides up to 120 hours per month of direct patient care under the direct supervision of a Case Manager/P.
- Provides case management functions for patients on their caseload; writing adequate group and individual session notes, performing required treatment plans reviews, phase transfers and other necessary documentation to ensure that WAC and CARF standards are met, under the direct supervision of a Case Manager/P.
- Develops and maintains individualized treatment plans under the supervision of the Case Manager/P. Provides the patient with a catalyst for change and a treatment plan for bringing about change and direction to the patient in the process of recovery.
- Maintains clinical files in accordance with the program and state standards. Provides evaluation reports, treatment compliance, and discharge summary reports as needed, in conjunction with program standards, and under the direct supervision of a Case Manager/P.
- Ensures that clinical files meet program standards and other agency quality assurance indicators, including monthly or appropriate case reviews.
- Coordinates with the program staff in the integration of program services and case review.
- Attends regular staff meetings and participates in clinical case staffing and per program policy.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
